Fox’s The Moment of Truth is hosted by 46 year old Mark L Walberg. The Moment of Truth debuted on January 23, 2008 after American Idol and was an immediate ratings hit. Fox quickly ordered a 2nd season of the polygraph based game show and The Moment of Truth remains one of the only hour long game shows on network TV as opposed to appearing in syndication. Walberg got his start 17 years before The Moment of Truth on Shop ‘Til You Drop (an American game show that appeared on cable channels such as Lifetime, The Family Channel, and Pax). He co-hosted Shop ‘Til You Drop from 1991 until 1994 and then hosted Fox’s Temptation Island for 3 seasons starting in 2001. The show gave Walberg some credibility with Fox viewers and showed he could tastefully handle very difficult and embarrassing situations such as those found on The Moment of Truth. Having experience with game shows and reality shows would help him in both The Moment of Truth and his next major project, Antiques Roadshow. The show appraises antiques at various shows and conventions. It has aired in various forms since 1979. After Antiques Roadshow Walberg moved on to The Moment of Truth. This has proven to be Walberg’s most high profile television experience. The show hasn’t kept up it’s initial high post-American Idol numbers but it has kept up good ratings and was quickly approved for a second season. Walberg has parlayed this success into several other upcoming projects. He is set to host another game show, Russian Roulette, on the Game Show Network that is set to debut in 2009. He is also going to host a TV version of the board game Trivial Pursuit entitled Trivial Pursuit: America Plays. Walberg has found a niche in game shows with the success of The Moment of Truth.
