Howie Mandel is a comedian and actor who is now the host of the hit NBC game show Deal or No Deal. Before becoming the host of Deal or No Deal Mandel was best known for his 6 year run on St. Elsewhere. Mandel has also done a lot of voiceover work including in both Gremlins movie. Prior to hosting Deal or No Deal Mandel had never hosted a game show before but was familiar to viewers from his earlier work but also from the world of stand-up comedy where his best known routine was to put a latex glove over his head and inflate it with his nose. Mandel was also famous for doing hidden camera segments on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In 2005 it was announced that Mandel would be the host of Deal or No Deal. The show became an instant hit for NBC and Mandel appeared on a number of other NBC shows (such as Medium and My Name is Earl) often appearing as the host of Deal or No Deal as a form of cross-promotion. As the show’s popularity grew it was announced that Mandel would host Deal or No Deal Canada in his native country. When not taping either version of Deal or No Deal Mandel performs 200 shows per year as a comedian. He is currently performing a long run of shows at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mandel is also known for having Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and a fear of germs. He refuses to shake hands with contestants on Deal or No Deal but does have a sense of humor about the condition and has joked about it on the show and in interviews. In 2008 it was announced that Mandel would be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
